Natlismtsemeli Cave Monastery

Natlismtsemeli is a friary, part of the David-Gareja monastic complex in Kakheti region. The monastery is located 12 km from David’s lavra.

The cave monastery is located among rocks and caves. The monastery was founded in the VI century by Father Lucian, a disciple of St. David. The monastery was repeatedly looted in various centuries by the Turks, the Persian army and the Mongols, and as a result, only monks remained in the monastery of Natlismtsemeli.

The cave monastery of Nattlismemeli is considered an important part of Christian Georgia and a popular tourist attraction. At the moment, Nattlimtsemeli is a working monastery.
