Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium Museum

One of the interesting and noteworthy museums in Georgia, which is worth to visit is the museum of the Tbilisi Classical gymnasium.

In 1804 the first and most prestigious school opened in Tbilisi. In 1830, the school was turned into a male gymnasium, which had its own library with 15,766 copies of books. In the gymnasium, the classes of natural sciences – arithmetic, geometry and algebra, foreign languages ​​- Russian, Latin, German, etc., the history of Georgia and Russia and painting were held.

The gymnasium was closed in 1924. Later it was turned into a museum. The Tbilisi classical gymnasium is located in the center of the city, near the building of Parliament. At the entrance, there is a monument to Ilya Chavchavadze and Akaki Tsereteli.
