Lake Khozapini is the second largest one in Georgia. It is located in the south of the country, in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, on the border with Turkey. The part of the lake belongs to Turkey.
Khozapini is located in the Javakheti Highlands of the Lesser Caucasus, on a volcanic plateau. It was formed on this site as a result of active movements of the earth’s crust. A large lake has an area of 26.6 km2, the maximum depth is 10 metres.
The lake has 12 large and small islands, all are located on the Turkish side.
