Catholic Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul

At the moment there are more than 100 thousand Catholics in Georgia, in Tbilisi there are two Catholic churches, one of which is the Catholic Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul.

The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is located in the center of Tbilisi, on Javakhishvili Street. Thanks to the donations of the Georgian governors and the Polish Catholic community in 1887 the construction of the temple began and lasted about seven years. The architect of the church was the Russian academician of architecture A. Zeltsman.

From the first day of the opening to present days, the doors of the church have been never closed, and the cathedral never stopped welcoming the parishioners even under Soviet rule. Today, the cathedral holds services by Roman Catholic Church priests.
