Festival Tour to Georgia

Day 1 

  • Arrival at the airport, transfer to the hotel

Day 2 

  • Trip to Mtskheta – a beautifully renovated town belonging to the 2nd half of the I millennium BC, the first capital of Georgia. Mtskheta is an important religious center of Georgia.
  • The tour will start with the visit to Jvari Monastery located on the high hill. From the top of the hill opens a breathtaking view of  the confluence of Aragvi and Kura rivers
  • Visit to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral which is a masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages. It is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
  • Visit to Samtavro Monastery, where St. Nino lived and preached in the IV century
  • After the tour, you will take part in the Christian official holiday – Mtskhetoba or Svetitskovloba. This day Christians from all over the country gather in Mtskheta and Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II, holds a festive service in Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Traditionally the fest is accompanied by various sport competitions, exhibitions of paintings and hand-made things, bookselling, programs for children, local natural house-made food market and a gala concert.
  • Return to Tbilisi

Days 3-4  

  • These days you will take part in the annual national holiday dedicated to the foundation of Tbilisi and harvesting – Tbilisoba. During Tbilisoba the central streets and squares are closed for cars, they are full of markets offering home-made natural food and excellent Georgian wine as well as house-made things such as scarfs, hats, diaries, accessories etc. During the fest, you will be able to take part in various competitions and degustations. Many concerts will take place and you will enjoy modern music bands and Georgian folk music.

Day 5 

  • Departure to Kakheti – the picturesque region, which is famous for the producing of excellent Georgian wines
  • Excursion to Tsinandali- the patrimony of famous Georgians-Chavchavadzes. The manor is known of its amazing labyrinth-gathered with exotic trees in it and with cellars, where the unique collection of Georgian and European wine is preserved.
  • Tour to Sighnaghi the “town of love”. It is famous for its architecture in the style of southern Italian classicism.
  • After we will visit Bodbe Monastery where was buried St.Nino – the founder of Christianity in Georgia.
  • A trip to the village of Kvareli and visit to the famous winery “Khareba”. Here you will have a tour around the factory, degustation of local wines, as well as a master class on baking Georgian bread shoti and national sweet churchkhela.

Day 6

  • Transfer to airport

          Please note, that to enter Georgian orthodox churches ladies will need to have scarves for covering their heads (they can find some at the entrances). In some cases, ladies will be warned to wear skirts. Short trousers are forbidden in the church.
